Case Study Abergavenny Market Hall Deep Cleaning

CASE STUDIES: THESE NEED TO BE ALL LINK INSERTED TO 3 SECTORS LISTED

Title: High Level Commercial Cleaning at Abergavenny Market Hall

Client: Monmouth County Council, Abergavenny Market Hall

Project: The Senior property services manager called APT to arrange a short notice high level commercial deep cleaning and commercial painting of the Abergavenny market hall which was a venue picked to host the confirmed 2015 Welsh National Eisteddfod.

The Challenge
There was over 8000 square meters of wall and high level cleaning of ceiling surfaces, windows and glass cleaning, steel pilasters' and intricate steel work. There was further cleaning and commercial decorating to lower ground floor areas and a further 1000 meters of wood ceiling panelling to be cleaned and then washed off. This all had to be completed within 3 days working continuous 12 hour shifts.

APT’s Solution
APT met with the client’s building managers and safety officers to discuss the remit and carried out a full survey of the property.
There were several factors and obstacles to overcome, we had three day notice to arrange and start the works, we had only three days to complete the job as building was a major busy venue and was in use on almost a daily basis making it very limited for access. The internal shape and height were major factors due to the floor and limited weight loadings and small entrance doorways to bring in the access lifts required to reach the highest areas. The small stalls and shops with open areas would all have to be covered and sealed.

After receiving the approval, we arranged the cleaning program and completed a full health and safety plan. We hired the specialised lift access to ensure the safe integrity of the floor areas.

The Result

The results spoke for themselves; the building was transformed and was extremely well received by all the local authority, market stall holders and delegates for the special meeting.
The deep cleaning of the area of ceiling panel showed the client the well kept paintwork and the possible savings of the proposed tens of thousands it would cost to repaint the ceiling panels and steel structures.
