Render Cleaning Tips

Render Cleaning

Don’t just hire anyone for your render cleaning. You need an established and experienced cleaning company that knows all the procedures, risks, regulations and very efficient work management. On top of this the cleaning technicians must know how to approach the unclean render. They must understand the types of dirt and be able to explain to you the procedures at every stage. Don’t hire someone that is only going to pressure wash your render. A pressure washing company will charge less than a professional cleaning company but you will end up with algae or mould growing back again on your building. On top of the clean look, you must also make sure the surface is sanitised by the cleaning operative. A pressure washer can’t sanitise a building surface. Why? Because the pressure removes the dirt but it does not kill the bacteria that causes the dirt on the building.

Keep in mind

1.       You need an experienced company, with all the required documentation and risk assessments.
2.       You need a chemically treated building surface not just a pressure wash.
3.       You need a company with licensed professional cleaning operatives for your satisfaction.
4.       You need a company with efficient work management.

You need an impeccable and professional service provided to you by our company.

St Davids Hall Cardiff Case Study

APT Case Study Information

Sector:
Site Services

Client:
St Davids Hall, Cardiff.

Work /Project: Complete Clean of Front of Building.

Inspection arranged with the on-site manager to decide best method for cleaning complete face of building.

Issues/Problems to be solved:
Time was the main factor involved, from the first telephone call to arrange the inspection, issuing quote and completion of work all had to be done within 48 hours due to the televising of the World Opera Championships on the Friday.

What we did:

1              Arranged thorough inspection of the premises with the On-Site Manager.
2              Sent through a written quote, stating a confirmed time for the start and completion of the work.
3              Arranged for four men, boom lifts and cleaning equipment to be on site for 6.30pm on Thursday evening (so as to minimize the amount of disruption to the public) due to the location being in the centre of Cardiff.
4              Using a combination of High Powered Pressure Water equipment and APT environmentally friendly products set to work.
5              Work completed by 4am on the Friday Morning, allowing enough time for the management to erect the necessary banners before the filming started.

Result:

The work was completed well within time with some amazing results.

Testimonial

“In these days of constrained budgets I thought it impossible to give the external façade the required face-lift, with minimal funds and time at my disposal (before hosting the nationally televised BBC Cardiff Singer of The World competition) and both you and your team’s effective and sympathetic approach to the workload (working over night and amongst the fabric of our large canvas advertising hoarding) delivered a 100% satisfactory job!”

K-Rend Cleaning Garnteg School Pontypool

CASE STUDIES: K REND CLEANING

Client - TORFEAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

Location - Garnteg School Pontypool

Brief Overview: K Render Surface coating
The clients school building was in a very bad state with over 15 years of red and black algae growth, moss and lichen build up and staining which was very off putting to new potential children and parents wishing to come to the school.
The school had excellent record for teaching and a fantastic range of facilities
The local authority called apt after the head of the school requested help to find an algae removal solution or to enhance the visual impact of the school
Several companies had already quoted for cleaning and repainting the k render surface and some commercial cleaning companies did not respond after seeing the algae problem

APT Action Taken:
Apt carried out a full survey of the property over 3000 square meters of k render surface coating on three levels and some with very limited access. We discussed the type of cleaning and method with the client along with the ongoing future maintenance programme
After receiving the approval, we arranged the cleaning program and hired the specialised lift access and materials including the apt k render, algae removal cleaner which would kill algae and remove moss and other surface stains algae free
We carried out a test sample for approval but the property services manager and head of school. we completed the k render cleaning and treatment works over a 10-day period working late evenings and weekends to minimise disruption to the school programme

The result
the k render cleaning results speak for themselves all staff and many parents commenting that the school is as good as new and the clean k render did not need to be painted as first proposed saving thousands of pounds
Matthew Touhig property services manager for Torfaen council and head of Garnteg School sue Roche

Other comments
There were several issues with the cleaning programme, the school was built over three levels and some with very limited access, and the school would remain open whilst the cleaning took place which included very young children teachers and parents to be considered. This was all considered during the consultation with the client and allowances were scheduled into the working plan for approval with the client and managed vigorously on a day to day basis with flexibility and allowances for any programme changes
Client testimonial
“Another Excellent job done by APT, carried out under difficult conditions. Instead of renewing the cladding at a cost of over £40,000 APT have restored it to almost new, a huge saving Highly recommended.”

Case Study Abergavenny Market Hall Deep Cleaning

CASE STUDIES: THESE NEED TO BE ALL LINK INSERTED TO 3 SECTORS LISTED

Title: High Level Commercial Cleaning at Abergavenny Market Hall

Client: Monmouth County Council, Abergavenny Market Hall

Project: The Senior property services manager called APT to arrange a short notice high level commercial deep cleaning and commercial painting of the Abergavenny market hall which was a venue picked to host the confirmed 2015 Welsh National Eisteddfod.

The Challenge
There was over 8000 square meters of wall and high level cleaning of ceiling surfaces, windows and glass cleaning, steel pilasters' and intricate steel work. There was further cleaning and commercial decorating to lower ground floor areas and a further 1000 meters of wood ceiling panelling to be cleaned and then washed off. This all had to be completed within 3 days working continuous 12 hour shifts.

APT’s Solution
APT met with the client’s building managers and safety officers to discuss the remit and carried out a full survey of the property.
There were several factors and obstacles to overcome, we had three day notice to arrange and start the works, we had only three days to complete the job as building was a major busy venue and was in use on almost a daily basis making it very limited for access. The internal shape and height were major factors due to the floor and limited weight loadings and small entrance doorways to bring in the access lifts required to reach the highest areas. The small stalls and shops with open areas would all have to be covered and sealed.

After receiving the approval, we arranged the cleaning program and completed a full health and safety plan. We hired the specialised lift access to ensure the safe integrity of the floor areas.

The Result

The results spoke for themselves; the building was transformed and was extremely well received by all the local authority, market stall holders and delegates for the special meeting.
The deep cleaning of the area of ceiling panel showed the client the well kept paintwork and the possible savings of the proposed tens of thousands it would cost to repaint the ceiling panels and steel structures.
What Our Client Said

Good Morning Andrew,

I would like to thank you on behalf of Monmouthshire County Council for the outstanding work that you and your company carried out last weekend. Can you please pass on our thanks to your workforce for all their hard work in difficult conditions.

Case Study Bridge Cleaning Joe Calzaghe Bridge

Heading :  Industrial and Commercial Cleaning,  Bridge Specialists

Client :      Caerphilly County Borough Council

Project:     Cleaning of Joe Calzaghe Railway and River Foot Bridge, Cwmcarn, South Wales

Client Problem
The pedestrian railway bridge had been constructed over 15 years ago and had heavy contaminated build-up of unsightly green algae and moss. There also crude graffiti on a painted mural that ran along the foot bridge. It was very unsightly and the foot way had become very slippery and was affecting safe passage for pedestrians and school children going to and from the school and village.

Situation
Caerphilly council had used us as a specialist commercial cleaning company to successfully carry out cleaning of the main trunk road bridge, and to remove graffiti from the roadway and railway bridge a few years earlier, however this bridge was very complicated and had very difficult access problems.  The bridge ran over the busy railway line and river crossing and was the main route for over 1000 children and pedestrians using the local swimming pool. To enable us to safely remove graffiti  and clean the many years of algae staining, the commercial high level cleaning team and graffiti removal  team had arranged to carry out the work whist the bridge remained open as this was the only access for pedestrians so safety and pedestrian management was paramount.

Method
APT have over 25 years of experience in commercial high level bridge cleaning and using the specialist methodology, tools and specialist high level cleaning equipment combined with our specialist cleaning products we put together an acceptable safe system of works and commercial high level cleaning programme. We carried out the project working around busy periods with safe pedestrian and management in place. We used our rope access and high level commercial cleaning teams for the highest points of the bridge which were over 20 meters high.

Result
A very successful end result which exceeded the clients expectations, many great comments received from local residents' about the improvement it made to the overall ‘look’ of the area and safe finish of the work.

Testimonial – Andrew and the APT team carried out a fantastic job under difficult conditions they managed the project throughout the Joe Calzaghe bridge again looks fantastic

Case Study Norma UK Industrial Machinery Cleaning & Commercial Machinery Painting

Draft CASE STUDIES:

Client – Norma UK

Location – Newbury

Scope of Works - industrial machinery cleaning, commercial machinery painting

Brief Overview:

APT were asked by Norma UK to tender for a programme of works at their Newbury production plant. We were required to provide a full schedule of works for a complete deep cleaning of all the tooling and metal working machine heavy presses and then to repaint the machinery in the new corporate colours in the main production areas in readiness for their VIP visiting clients.

We carried a full factory survey and provided proposals for evaluation by the client. We then discussed the cleaning options and methods with the managers and production teams to bring the project in under a tight programme of works.

Issues

The machinery and plant was in constant use with 6-day shift patterns so the schedule for cleaning and painting would be a very tight and coordinated schedule to avoid disruption to daily operations.

We used our APT specialised degreaser, Powermax 2020 and Citrus RTU, to clean throughout the plant heavy presses and cutting and forming equipment as they quickly break down and emulsify all the surface grease, oils and other surface contaminants to allow for washing and wiping off.

We then completed the repainting of the machinery first undercoating and then applied two coats of top coat to reach the desired final finish.

The powermax degreaser was also used for the industrial floor cleaning through the scrubber dryer.

The result/outcome
APT carried out the programme of works to meet client expectations and have been awarded further ongoing planned schedules of works to ensure further progression of the upgrading to the other areas within the production facility.

Other Comments
As part of our ongoing partnership APT have demonstrated to the client how to implement the Powermax 2020 degreaser into their Kaisan cleaning programmes for weekly cleaning maintenance and floor cleaning tasks.

Testimonial
“APT was engaged to carry out a demanding programme of industrial plant machinery cleaning and commercial re-painting works. They have delivered excellent results clearly demonstrating their competence to deliver the required results, we will continue to use their services to support our ongoing operations”

Case Study TUI Render Cleaning

Case Study

Project
Unfortunately, the building had not been cleaned for a few years and was covered in a green hue
The glass had become weathered

Client: TUI

Project Manager: Purple Rhino

Client Requirement: The building needed to look as good as new again as the landlords were complaining

The coloured window frames had faded due to sunlight over exposure
Glass had oxidised and needed restoring
Cladding was extremely dirty and was covered in moss & lichens

Project Solution: Purple Rhino surveyed the building and it was decided that the whole building needed sanitising as there was a great deal of moss and lichens growing on the surfaces

By applying a biocide and then steam cleaning the whole of the facade was the best way to restore the cladding as steam cleaning is a gentle and safe way to clean this type of surface
The glass needed renovating and a suitable glass renovator was used and applied by hand
The red window frames had become dull and were restored back to their original colour
Ongoing solutions

Purple Rhino now maintains this building by cleaning the whole exterior surface with purified de ionised water every three months and applying a fungicidal wash where needed.

Testimonials
“Purple Rhino first sent us through an informative booklet about Industrial building cleaning in March 2013, I invited them down to survey our six-storey building in Crawley, West Sussex known as The Atrium, they agreed to carry out a test sample FREE of charge and without obligation. The test results were extremely positive and it was agreed that the whole building façade and glass restoration service was needed to make the building look presentable once again. The works took them just over three weeks, and they gained access by using the building’s own cradle system and the use of Access Platforms, with minimal disruption to our staff and neighbours, the building now looks extremely good as it did when constructed. We will be using Purple Rhino for an agreed scheduled cleaning service to keep the building looking pristine at all times”

The client was coming to the end of a commercial property lease agreement on and warehousing distribution unit which was part of the port of jersey estates department.
During the tenancy the client had installed secured safety fencing to secure the yard space. Over the last ten years the weather and high cross winds had caused damage to the wall causing major cracking to the granite stone wall.

Situation
The security fence was set along the wall at a high level, a busy trucking yard to one side and the main passenger terminal walkway to the other.
The fence needed to be removed to remove the risk to passengers and yard workers whilst carrying out new long term repairs and reinstatement of security fencing to the yard.

APT provided options for completing the dilapidation for the client condor ferries

1.        Secure the area to protect public and yard workers

2.        Use soda blasting method to clean granite stone and masonry of the heritage stone wall to allow detailed inspection of the cracks and appropriate colour match for the stone repair and restoration works. Also remove and treat algae.

3.        Provide several options to reinstate a fence to satisfy the port of jersey harbours authority, the jersey heritage and conservation works authority and the local authority to meet current planning criteria.

4.        Carry out stone repairs to the granite wall using specialist fixings to secure the damaged stone pieces together with up to date modern techniques in stone masonry repairs to match existing clean stone surfaces.
